My stepmom and I used to have a very strict rule at my house, and that was to never talk to my girlfriend about my stepmother or my boyfriend's old lady. The problem with this is that even though my girlfriend was only eleven when our relationship started, we'd talk all the time, so it seemed like our conversations were always about each other. And even though my girlfriend had heard all about her granny's old toilet and how she liked to use it to catch her stepson cheating on her, she would still tell me things about her past boyfriend that I hadn't heard before and which probably made him think that I knew everything there was to know about him. This of course was not exactly healthy for my relationship with her. So even though my girlfriend loved talking about old times and places and such, in fact, even though I think it's cool that we still talk about our old times and places and stuff, in addition to my girlfriend finding out that I had talked about her stepmother and boyfriend, she still finds it extremely awkward to talk to me about it now, even though she did let me know that she thought it might be fun for me to tell her about them one day..
