An Indian Hostel in Thailand has been found to house a large number of British girls, who are known as "Cougars". The main source of the overcrowding at these Indian Hostels is the British Foreign Office (FCO), which has provided guest houses to many Pakistani and British Indians in Thailand. The British Consulate in Bangkok has also set up an office in Phuket, in an effort to curb the influx of British Girls and reduce tension between the British and Thai people. The FCO has also advised the British nationals not to advertise on the internet about having a wife or girlfriend in a Thai Hostel, or any woman for that matter. Many of the British women who were staying at these cheap hotels in Phuket are converting to Islam and they form a huge community in some areas of Phuket..
