Mom! Maybe you should stop calling your teen daughter by her first name and start calling her Mum. This is not only because she is much easier to call using her actual name but because it is more in tune with how we speak to our parents. When my daughter was a toddler calling her Mum instead of my daughter's name was like using a different tone of voice altogether and something that I could never understand about my parents, even now as an adult I still struggle to use the word mum when speaking to my kids. So why would I use the word "Mum" when it is a close synonym for my daughter?.
