When we want to get something or have something, we all want to take a look. The word have a slight connotation of a request, though this is a mild connotation that implies a person has permission to do so. Have a drink or take a shower, for example. This is an easy way to ask someone for something. This is the equivalent of saying, "Let me take a look."
