After the devastating loss of her husband George, Esther confides in two patrons - a rich white socialite, Mrs. Van Buren, and a young prostitute, Mayme. Mr. Marks, a Hasidic shopkeeper who relishes his exquisite finds, is also a fan of Esther. The enigmatic Mrs. Dickinson is played by Dawnn Lewis.
